CentOS 5 for the i386 and x86_64 architectures. CentOS 5 is based on the upstream release 5, and includes packages from all variants including Server and Client.
All upstream repositories have been combined into one, to make it easier for end users to work with. Major changes in CentOS 5 compared to CentOS 4 include: updated software versions; better desktop support with Compiz and AIGLX; virtualization provided by the Xen hypervisor with Virtual Machine Manager and libvirt; Sabayon to simplify the construction of user profiles.
CentOS menggabungkan dua edisi (Server dan Desktop) yang didistribusikan RHEL 5 secara terpisah dalam satu distribusi, baik dengan maupun tanpa virtualisasi. Jumlah CD binari CentOS pada versi 5 juga meningkat menjadi 6 CD untuk 32bit dan 7 CD untuk 64 bit, dan masing-masing platform masih bisa dikemas dalam satu DVD.
