PartedMargic adalah sebuah aplikasi partisi berbasis open source yg dibundel dalam sebuah live cd sehingga tidak perlu lagi di install dan berjalan mandiri tanpa tergantung dari jenis sistem operasi yang anda gunakan.
Jantung dari PartedMagic adalah VisParted, sebuah aplikasi open source untuk melakukan partisi. Aplikasi ini adalah hasil modifikasi dari aplikasi GParted ditambahkan beberapa fitur baru. Distro Partedmagic ini dibangun dari awal menggunakan materi project Linux From Scratch (LFS) dan memanfaatkan Busybox sebagai basis command line dan networking. PartedMagic juga telah dilengkapi dengan browser Firefox utk browsing.
Distro Live ini juga menyertakan sejumlah alat bantu (utilities) termasuk Partition Image, TestDisk, fdisk, sfdisk, dd, ddrescue dan banyak lainnya. Mendukung banyak filesystem, termasuk: aufs, fat16, fat32, ocfs2, ext2, ext3, ext4, reiserfs, reiser4, hfs, hfs+, jfs, linux-swap, ntfs, xfs, e zfs.
The 3.0 release of Parted Magic, a specialist live CD distribution designed to facilitate hard disk management tasks:

Parted Magic uses Busybox for basic Unix commands and networking, and Firefox to surf the web. The current Xserver is xorg-server-1.4.2 with the following drivers: apm, ark, ati, chips, cirrus, cyrix, glint, i128, i740, i810, mga, neomagic, nv, r128, riva128, radeon, rendition, s3, s3virge, savage, siliconmotion, sis, tdfx, tga, trident, tseng, vesa, vmware, and voodoo.
