Ubuntu Muslim Edition is a set of packages that customizes the Ubuntu distro by installing islamic software (prayer times, Quran study tool, web content filtering tool etc.) and by changing its design.

Ubuntu is a great distro, easy to use for a novice user, with the most-used Office, Internet, Graphics and Video applications already installed but we think that for Muslim users it would be great to have “out of the box” Islamic software and tools installed as well.


 

Konten CD 1

The UbuntuME CD 1 has the same content as the standard Ubuntu CD with the following changes:

  • OpenOffice removed (available on CD 2)
  • Flash player 9 installed and configured for Firefox (to enable Quran recitations in Zekr)
  • WCC (parental control) enabled by default (so as browsing the Internet is safe) ; blacklists downloaded from http://squidguard.shalla.de
  • UbuntuME packages installed:
  • Miscellaneous packages:
    • AptOnCd
    • rar, unrar
    • vlc
    • nautilus-open-terminal

Konten CD 2

  • All currently (08 oct 2007) available updates: Firefox 2.0.0.6, Gimp 2.2.13, Linux image 2.6.20-16 ...

  • Ogle 0.9.2 (DVD player)
  • Offline recitations for Zekr: Muhammad Siddeeq al-Minshawi (16kbps, 193 MB) and Huzify (24 kbps, 322 MB) (files provided by www.versebyversequran.com)
