Bermuara dari UNIX, DragonFly serumpun dengan Linux menggunakan API yang sama. DragonFly merupakan fork yang menyediakan alternatif dengan arah berbeda dari seri FreeBSD-5 dst. CD DragonFly adalah 'live', boot dan otomatis login sebagai root tanpa password guna memungkinkan pengguna men-check kompatibilitas hardware sebelum instalasi ke hardisk dimulai.

1.10 is our sixth major DragonFly release. Several big-ticket items are present in this release. Our default ATA driver has been switched to NATA (ported from FreeBSD).
